Lights are down in the room while just one massive, loud pink spotlight flashes up the runway of Anne Gorke‘s Fall/Winter 2014 Collection. We have been given some very fancy earplugs because two guys wearing baseball caps are almost ready to play drums in the front row.
We are about to watch a highly addictive display of attitude that, in perfect harmony with the clothing and some serious badass beats, will get us screaming YO MADAME for the rest of the day. But we don’t know this yet.
The hip-hop party starts while black and white shirt dresses catch our attention. Then grays hit the runway, while some contrasting materials make our heads turn. We see shaved plush, fluffy merino and a very special fleece made of 100% organic wool, but also voiles and classic Harris Tweeds.
Two ladies sitting with us in second row start singing and dancing – seems like we are all captivated by some 90’s mood. Pink hues take the spotlight, and that completo makes a scene leaving a couple of AWs and OWs in the air. How can you possibly feel so cozy in your clothes while remaining chic? Ask Anne Gorke: she’s mastered that today.
This fall winter collection is everything any cool girl could ever dream of, and I suddenly regret I was screaming for summer just a couple of days ago. “Do I seriously need to wait until August to get this on me?”, I wonder.
The show ends up with a gathering of models carrying “Y” and “O” shaped silver balloons. The girls are having fun!
Then we realize. It’s sleek. It’s fun. It’s Bauhaus. It’s a be true to yourself collection. But most importantly: it’s 100% ecological. And Anne Gorke shows us that eco fashion does not necessarily have to be boring AT ALL.
We leave the show and have a few seconds in the backstage where we see an ecstatic Anne Gorke screaming, dancing and jumping all over the place.
“Yo Madame”, I say, “thanks to you we now belong to hip-hop”.
