The Flower Awakening

The flower awakening, by Malina

April has arrived with its springy energy, causing a real flower awakening in Milan. This automatically sent me a clear sign: the warm season has begun and the time for us to bloom, get rid of winter clothes and revamp our wardrobes is finally here.
In my endless search of unique brands and up-and-coming designers, Malin Andrén, the founder of By Malina, has appeared on my fashion radar screen immediately catching my attention. Despite the fact that she is Swedish –and you all know about my crush on Scandinavian Fashion-, this talented fashion maker has mastered an evergreen piece we all dream about: the silk maxi dress.
By Malina is nowadays a globally distributed brand. Honoured to have dressed Princess Victoria of Sweden and having worked for Swedish brands such as Acne, H&M or Gina Tricot, Malin Andrén creates tailor-made collections in handmade printed silk that will make you fall in love.

Watching her Spring Summer collection has inspired me to create this Style Guide to get ready for the season.

There is no better way to start April than wearing a colourful long dress like the above.
Lots of celebrations and parties will come the following months –doesn’t almost everyone has a friend who’s getting married in May?- and therefore we need versatile pieces that satisfy our styling needs more than only once. Get a statement silk maxi dress and let the magic happen just by changing the accessories and shoes.

Blue was an omnipresent colour in the Spring Summer 2013 runways and now it is time to adapt this trend to our daily lives. But if going for the total-blues scares you, here comes a styling tip you should not forget: always splash your blue looks with a little touch of warm colour hues (did anyone say fuchsia?). Just take the above By Malina combo as an example: the casual Monaco-blue dress made of silk paired with fringed pink flat sandals and an arm party are a great choice.

While we await the dungarees return, getting a bright silky jumpsuit looks like a great idea for those really warm days. One thing is sure: all the glamour of the 60’s and 70’s will be yours, whether you decide to combine it with citric or with deep cold colours.

Lovers of the spring summer breeze, this one is for us! By Malina has created some of the cutest and sexiest little dresses ever seen, taking elegance and effortless style to a whole new level.
Remember that sleeveless mini-dresses should be worn with flats, leaving high heels for the sleeved-ones.

Oversized clothing’s supremacy has hit the runways for a couple of seasons, but it is still a trend that makes cheeks go red in those who do not dare to use it. By Malina has a smart solution: just play with the fabrics!
The stunning Tibby Jacket with oversized lapels will be the cherry on the cake for an Asian-inspired look.
