Imagine a flat-pack cardboard digital camera

… it exists. Designer Jesper Kouthoofd has created it for IKEA. Have a look!

Despite the funny parts of the presentation video, it looks like it actually works! And I’ve read that it’s quite an experience. My husband says he’s gonna buy it next time we visit IKEA, yeiii!!!
Some pieces of this recyclable camera called Knäppa will be given to clients in IKEA stores in order to create a community and make them promote the new PS 2012 Furniture Collection through their own pictures.
It works with AA batteries, a camera sensor and an integrated USB connector (thrilling!). This means you can actually connect it to your computer (!) and load the pictures (!!!!!). I am so surprised because I just remembered my first KODAK camera and tears literally came to my eyes.
But I just wonder one thing: do you need to assemble everything yourself or do they give it to you in its full beauty? Cause it would be great if you could IKEA-it with your hands…

OK. I just found it out. You will be able to assemble this eco-friendly 2.3 Mp camera a little bit!

It’s so super cool. I read today that they are giving a simple version of this camera for free! I still need to find out about prices for the standard version…
